Anxiety and stress counselling in Victoria, BC
Anxiety and stress show up in the body, in our thoughts, and in how we get through the day. Counselling can help you understand what is happening, feel steadier, and respond with more choice. I work with children, youth and adults, in person in Victoria and online.
What anxiety and stress can look like
- Worry that is hard to switch off
- Trouble sleeping, muscle tension, headaches or a racing heart
- Avoiding situations, people or tasks
- Irritability, overwhelm or shutting down
- School, exam or work stress
- Stress connected to ADHD, life transitions or past experiences
How I work
Sessions draw on research into stress and regulation, including my doctoral work at the University of Victoria. Together we notice how stress shows up for you, put words to it, and practise body-calming and helpful-thinking strategies that fit your life. This is the same three-step approach behind the 3A Toolkit: Awareness, Assign a Label, Action.
When anxiety is connected to past experiences, trauma therapy such as EMDR may be part of the work. When stress is tied to attention and focus, ADHD support may help. For parents of an anxious child, see parenting support.
Common questions
Do you work with children and teens?
Yes. I work with children, youth and adults. For younger children, parents are often part of the work so the whole family can use the same words for stress.
Can sessions be online?
Yes. Sessions are available in person in Victoria and online.
Is counselling covered by extended health benefits?
Many extended health plans cover sessions with a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC). Check your plan for RCC coverage before your first session.
Can I start on my own while I wait?
Yes. The 3A Toolkit is a self-paced online program I wrote for stress and anxiety. It is education, not therapy, and it can sit alongside counselling.
